ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
Alex J. Packer, Ph.D., has had a life-long love of architecture and design.
Although his "day" job is president and C.E.O. of a nonprofit educational organization, FCD Educational Services, Inc., he once trained to become an architect. It has been a long-term dream of his to create a beautifully designed and crafted building, one that he would personally be proud to call home. Building 5 Lofts, in Davis Square, will become his architectural dream fulfilled.
Alex owns an impressive library of books on architecture, with a focus on contemporary lofts. He admits to being very picky about aesthetics and construction standards. Therefore, he has gone to considerable lengths to ensure that the loft homes he creates will please the most aesthetically discerning buyer who values a certain quality of life. Alex has spent a great deal of time and money to design and implement a cutting-edge system for sound attenuation between units that includes poured concrete between floors; suspended ceilings, resilient hangers and floor supports; massive insulated cavities; double layers of subfloor, and doubled party walls. He has located these lofts in the heart of Davis Square, Somerville. Davis Square has claimed center stage among all the squares on the Redline corridor between Cambridge & Somerville. Building 5 lofts is steps to the Minuteman bike & walking path, a few minutes to the Redline "T" stop, and all that this vital square has to offer.
